The brief for this holiday home project on the Kent coast, was for "simplicity, beauty, efficiency and cosiness". The previous owner's choice of loud colours and busy geometric wallpapers were therefore replaced with pared back walls and wooden floors to ensure a relaxed airy flow throughout. Some structural changes were made to create a large sociable kitchen with dining area, an open fire, a downstairs playroom/guest bedroom with en-suite shower room, a larger bathroom upstairs and to make the most of the views from the main bedroom.
Furniture inherited from family and the previous owners was combined with soft furnishings and accessories in an abundance of textures and materials and artworks by local artists and friends to add comfort and personality.
In contrast to the pale walls, some were painted in a deep blue/green to echo the nearby sea and the playroom walls were painted the colour of the sea on a bright sunny day to add a glimpse of colour and fun.
The house now provides an easy retreat from London life for the family and their friends to enjoy.
"You and Nick have done an amazing job. We all love it so much. Many, many thanks."
